Welcome to a collection of my thoughts aptly called my keep lists.
Two years ago, I joined the company as a fresh graduate, eager to learn and contribute. When I first started, I was overwhelmed by the new environment, the advanced tools, and the experienced professionals around me. That was the moment I realized “How can I deal with this?”. But as time passed, I noticed myself evolving in positive ways.
As my job requires me to use English most of the time, I always keep in my mind that improving English skills is essential for my jobs and career growth. However, “Theory will take you only so far” if you hesitate to take action now. I’m here to share the story about my English learning journey, not a professional sharing, but surely with a down-to-earth approach.
How I Practice My English Skills
- Practice Daily: Make a habit of reading, writing, and speaking English every day, you will see significant improvement by doing this. There are a lot of tips/techniques mentioning practice English daily to gain sufficient results. Learning a second language has never been simpler, thanks to the abundance of educational tools, resources, and courses accessible online.
- Write Often: I normally need to write emails, chat with creators, so basically this is a must for me. This can help practice using the right words and grammar. I also enjoy writing a journal in English whenever I have spare time. This helps you practice using the right words and grammar especially when you are type of learning everything by taking notes like me. Even though you make mistakes at first, it doesn’t matter at all! The point is you take action instantly, and small steps make big progress.
- Speak Regularly: The more you speak, the more confident you will become. My top pick for speaking English techniques would be to talk to myself lol. It works with me tho. I believe you guys do the same thing so it’s not weird at all right? Besides, talking with coworkers or friends in English is a good way too (in case they agree to do that with you).
In addition, use online tools such as Language apps and online websites to check your grammar and vocabulary. Last but not least, be patient, as learning a language takes time. Trust the process and be consistent.
